We're Having A...

GIRL!

Baby Wilhite is a girl! The final tally was 10 votes for a girl and 3 votes for a boy. We have some mighty good gender guessers out there! Bruce, Owen and Kathryn were all in the room for the gender reveal and it's a moment (a very cramped, but cute moment) our little family will always remember. We definitely did not have a preference, but I will admit that for the last three or four weeks I was convinced it was a girl. I never voted on our blog because, well, I'm the mommy and I knew God would give us the baby He wanted us to have. As long as the baby was healthy it didn't matter to us. But I guess my mother's intuition was right!

She weighs 12 ounces, had a fast and strong heartbeat and was active - even playing peek-a-boo with us for a few seconds. I guess she knows we play that game a lot around our house and wants to practice now. While the tech wouldn't give us an ulrasound shot of her girl parts for her baby book (apparently it's an Air Force-wide policy, but I've never heard that one) he did get a sweet picture of her sucking her thumb. We might try to schedule our own 3D ultrasound so she can have just as many great ultrasound pictures as her big brother and sister have. We are overjoyed and feeling so blessed right now as mother and baby are healthy. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Now we just have to pick out a name and wait for this precious girl to make her entrance into the world.

Here Piggy Piggy...

Bruce and I went to the Alabama/Arkansas game this weekend and had a blast! The Crimson Tide rolled over the Hogs and even though rain soaked us as we were walking to the stadium, it cleared up by kickoff and turned out to be really nice football weather. We would like to thank Bruce's Mom for driving down to watch the babies for us and our friends Wes and Cody for helping us get tickets. Thank you also to Tyler and his sweet parents for feeding us a great lunch and dinner; it was fun tailgating with y'all! Bruce and I really appreciated being able to drive to Tuscaloosa in the morning and home again that night. It's been a long time since we were last able to do that. Baby Wilhite kicked throughout the whole day and a lot at the game. I think it's safe to say this baby is a true Bama fan! Roll Tide y'all!

And you have to know by now that I'd sneak in a couple of pictures of my precious babies. Owen learned not only could he drag things out of our closet on this day, but also that bathroom cabinets have lots of goodies underneath them. What a cute grin!

The Big Gender Reveal

No, we don't know yet (sorry if the post title got your hopes up), but we will find out on Tuesday, September 29! I'll be 19 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Hopefully we'll have some great ultrasound pictures to post that afternoon too! While it will be wonderful to find out who will complete our family, finding out the baby's gender is just the icing on top of a normal ultrasound report. Please say a prayer that this little one is healthy and developing as he or she should. This baby is a mover and I have been feeling kicks and punches for a few weeks now. I can't wait to catch a glimpse of the baby that's doing all that tumbling in there! Stay tuned!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Happy Birthday Mom...we love you so much! Thank you for being my Mom, my friend and my role model. You are such a wonderful Grandmother to our babies and they love you dearly. You put your family first and always think of others before yourself. Never a day goes by that you don't brighten someone's day with a kind word, gesture or a smile. You are always there for us when we need you, to help in any way you can. Thank you for teaching us to live by the Golden Rule and to treat each day as a gift from God. I don't know what our family would do without your energy and sense of humor; you motivate us and inspire us as only a mother can. You are a one-of-a-kind Mom and Grandmother and we are so glad you are ours! Enjoy your special day!

Here's What We've Been Up To

It's been another week of firsts...Owen and Kathryn learned to drink from a sippy cup with a straw, learned to wave back when we wave at them (within a day or two of each other)and have learned that they can take their own hats off if they don't want to wear them.

Kathryn is moving and rolling more and trying her hardest to pull up on things. She LOVES books, especially her colors book; she squeals and smiles every time we pick it up to read it to her. It's amazing how much she's trying to say these days and how closely she pays attention to us when we talk to her. Owen has learned how to stand and open the diaper pale (yuck!) and is drawn to anything with a cord; fans, humidifiers, lamps, baby monitor. Of course these things are kept out of his reach but that doesn't mean he hasn't figured out that he can still try to find them and grab them. Leave it to him to like the dangerous things. He's getting brave and letting go of things for a few seconds before falling. I've always heard that girls are talkers and boys are walkers and in our case it's definitely true. They are developing so differently and it's awesome to watch!

We are in the process of turning one of the guests rooms into a nursery for the new baby (we'll find out if it's a boy or girl in about 3 weeks). We've already bought the new crib and changing table and they are adorable! I've recently started feeling some little kicks and it's the greatest feeling in the world. The babies heart rate was 156 at my last appointment and I've gained eight pounds which is right on track to my thirty pound goal. The doctor wanted me to gain ten pounds by twenty weeks and then one pound a week thereafter. Although I am committed to this goal and no where near as hungry as I was with K and O, I have to admit some days it's hard when all I want to do is eat! Guess that covers everything, until next time...

There he is! I was surprised by how fast his plane was and how quickly I had to try to take pictures.

Orange Beach in Alabama. Bruce and I took an overnight trip while my Mom watched the babies. The weather was perfect and the beach was beautiful. We got to sleep in until 7:30...what a treat!

Enjoying dinner out at Cafe Grazie...so delicious! We didn't really feel like we had to go out for seafood since we eat so much of it here at home.

Here I am at 16 weeks pregnant. Yes, I know I look bigger than 16 weeks, but the doctor said my uterus is nice and roomy from the twins. Thanks Doc! Hmmmm...do you think boy or girl? Vote at the top of our blog!

Teeth and a Trip to Dallas

Our babies are finally teething! Yay! As many of you know Kathryn and Owen are as different as night and day and I had just assumed that when it came to teething, they'd follow suit. But they surprised us by cutting the exact same tooth at the exact same time. In a way I expected it to be worse with more fussing and waking up during the night, but I think they're so exhausted by bedtime from all of the fussing they do during the day that they'd rather just sleep. We can see the teeth now and I can feel a little sharp point on Kathryn's gum...maybe it won't be long now until those little teeth push on through and give our sweeties some relief.

Bruce and I took our first vacation last week - well it was a working vacation for him but we got away, just the two of us nonetheless. We went to Dallas so Bruce could train in the simulator and while he worked, I slept and read. Yes, I read a whole book while we were gone, almost 500 pages! I never thought I'd be able to do that again. Just kidding. We had lots of date nights and after a couple of days got the hang of talking without shaking a bottle, changing a diaper or chasing a baby. We were able to catch up with several of our friends who live in Dallas or were training in Dallas like Bruce. All in all it was a great trip. We missed our babies like crazy but it was good for us and our babies were in the very best hands as our amazing, wonderful moms came down to take care of them. Thank you Grandmother and Grandmama! We love you both so much.

I am feeling great these days, I start the second trimester on Thursday and I pretty much feel like my old self. I know it won't be long now until I start to feel those little baby flutters and I just can't wait. That's all for now folks - here are some new pictures.

We went to the StockYards in Fort Worth. There are lots of restaurants and things to do and see including rodeos every weekend, the Cowboy Hall of Fame and Billy Bob's Texas - The World's Largest Honky Tonk. How's that for a claim to fame?

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza was known as the Texas School Book Depository in 1963 when JFK was shot. If you are ever in Dallas, make sure this is on your list of places to visit.

Surprise! We're Going To Be A Family of Five!

It's true...I am 10 1/2 weeks pregnant! We had our first ultrasound today to determine my due date and of course to see if we would welcome one baby or two. Our little family will welcome one precious new baby on or around February 18, 2010.

The baby is measuring big, 11 weeks and 1 day and was very active. The doctor was able to take some great pictures for his or her baby book. Kathryn and Owen got to go with us and even though they had no clue what was going on it will be a neat story to tell them all one day. I told Bruce all along I felt like it was one baby, but he wasn't so sure. A Mom just knows right? I'm feeling much better this time around and my pregnancy symptoms, with the exception of occasional nausea, have been totally different.

Now to answer what I'm sure all of you are wondering. No, we weren't trying to have another baby...ours are still in diapers! It was a huge (and I mean really huge!) surprise to us. But God wanted to give us this gift and we couldn't be happier! My biggest fear was that I wouldn't have the energy to keep up with Kathryn and Owen and be able to take care of myself the way I did when I was pregnant with them. However, God has taken care of that fear and has given me all the energy I need to be a pregnant mommy to two young babies. It is an amazing feeling to be given the opportunity to do this one more time and to experience a singleton pregnancy. I am looking forward to every minute of this pregnancy and to meeting and holding our new baby. Life is good and we have God to thank for that.

Yummy! White cake with white icing...my very favorite. My sweet husband surprised me with this delicious cake.

The 24th was Parker's 3rd birthday, so naturally we had a party for him too. Parker and Charlie wouldn't keep their hats on this year so we put them on the babies instead. The boys feasted on half a toasted whole wheat bagel with peanut butter. I had to blow out Parker's candle for him.
