We're 6 Months Old!

Happy half-birthday Kathryn and Owen! They had their 6-month well baby check up yesterday and Owen weighed in at 16 pounds, 15 ounces (more than triple his birth weight)and measured 26 3/4 inches long (he was a little over 18 inches at birth). Kathryn weighed in at 18 pounds, 14 ounces, more than double her birth weight, and was 26 3/4 inches long. She was 20 inches at birth.

This week Owen learned he could get on all fours and rock, so knowing him he'll be crawling in no time. He also learned that he could hold his own bottle and does so quite well I might add. Congratulations to Kathryn who has been such a big girl the past few days! She gave up her paci two nights ago and is doing well without it. Bruce and I decided that it would be easier for her to do now instead of a few months down the road when she would know to look for it or miss it when it was gone. Plus, we keep reading that prolonged pacifier use is linked to ear infections...who knew? Way to go Kathryn!

I can't believe they are six months old now! They change every day and every day with them is a blessing. Bruce and I feel more than lucky to be their parents and they have taught us so much. We've learned to take life one day at a time, that you should try to spend every moment you can together as a family, to try things with our babies even if it looks like it'll be a disaster and to laugh when it is, that it's ok if we never seem to have enough money because we always have an abundance of love and most importantly that children are a gift from God! We love you Kathryn and Owen with all of our hearts! Thank you for making the last six months so precious.

We're headed to the beach for 4th of July so we'll post more pictures soon. We hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July!

Baby Update...Learning to Sit Up!

Hello all. Just wanted to post a few new pictures of Kathryn and Owen sitting up! They are really getting the hang of it now and Kathryn seems to enjoy it more so than Owen. He would prefer to fall face down into his pile of toys and roll around, but he still gives it his best. Kathryn has also learned how to wave...or at least mimick us waving to her. It's adorable! They are doing well with solids and so far have tried rice cereal, peas, squash and applesauce.

Bruce and I took our first trip without the babies weekend before last so we could go to our friend Waldo's wedding. We missed the babies terribly but they had a wonderful time with both sets of grandparents and we got to catch up with all of our friends, many of whom we hadn't seen in years. I've thrown in a few pictures from the wedding...congratulations Waldo and Candice! It was great to see everyone again - we hope we can do it again soon. We'll post more later...enjoy the pics!
