The Big Ultrasound

Today I had my 19 week ultrasound and let me just say that there is nothing like a 3D ultrasound! After two hours of looking at our adorable babies the doctor informed me that everyone looks healthy. The babies were quite cooperative and seemed to enjoy the big event so much that they kept trying to sneak into their sibling's pictures. At least we know they're not camera shy. We did determine that they're fraternal which we had suspected all along. Each baby weighs in and measures in length about a week older than their actual gestational age. This was a big relief for the mommy-to-be who worries everyday whether they are getting all they need.

There is now an envelope sitting on our bookshelf with a big questions mark on the outside and inside is the answer to the question "What are we having?" So in just a few short weeks Bruce will be home and we'll know for sure! I would also like to say thank you to my Mom who flew all the way from Alabama for today's ultrasound. She was only here for 15 hours, but it meant the world to me that she was able to be there with me today.

Sarah's Birthday

My Mom and little bro Joshua came up to Virginia to help me celebrate my 24th birthday and what a great birthday it was. We went on a ghost tour of Old Town, visited the home of George Washington (Mount Vernon) and went to a going away party for our good friends Melanie and John who are on their way to Japan. Throw in a little shopping, birthday cake, a birthday party for Parker and a lot of amazing eats and you've got one fabulous birthday weekend. For those of you who were wondering, George Washington's teeth were not made of wood - who knew? Too bad they won't let you take a picture other wise I'd post one to prove it. This will be the second year in a row that Bruce and I have missed each other's birthdays - we're hoping our luck will change next year - so it was great to have family in town to celebrate with.

We're Blogging!

Hello family and friends! Good news - Bruce and I have decided to start blogging to keep everyone updated on our life away from home and the little ones who will be joining our family by year's end. That's right...Bruce and I are beyond excited that we will welcome twins (we don't know if they are boys, girls or one of each yet) by New Years or sooner! So far Mom and babies are healthy and we pray every day that that will remain the case. We'll find out what we're having in a little over a month once Bruce returns home from his deployment. Life in Virginia is great and there is certainly always something to do. We feel very blessed and are enjoying every minute of this wonderful adventure. Charlie and Parker - our fur babies as we lovingly call them - are adorable companions and continue to do cute things every day that prompts Mom to take their pictures (which I'll now post here!). This post is short, but there will be plenty more to come...stay tuned!
